Robert Altman: Celebration of an American Icon 5:30 p.m.
The College of Communication and the Boston University Alumni Association invite you to a Winterfest 2010 screening event and panel discussion celebrating the 40th anniversary of seminal film M*A*S*H and the new book Robert Altman: the Oral Biography, by Professor of Journalism Mitchell Zuckoff. Hear Prof. Zuckoff discuss Altmans life and work with the film legends loved ones and colleagues (including Kathryn Altman critic Ty Burr and actors Sally Kellerman and Michael Murphy, and Paul Schneider, chair of COMs film and television department). Afterwards, an anniversary screening of M*A*S*H, followed by a wrap party.

A Cozy Evening at the Theater
Arthur Millers All My Sons 811 p.m.
This powerful story about personal responsibility won the 1947 Tony Award for Best Play and catapulted Arthur Miller among the ranks of Americas greatest playwrights. Join for this Huntington Theatre production directed by David Esbjorson, who is widely considered one of Millers directors of choice. After the performance join the cast for a special reception!

Cinema Physica: King Kong
A fascinating exploration of physics principles as portrayed in the film King Kong. Award-winning Professor of Physics Andrew Cohen will take a quantitative approach to analyzing scenes from the movie, emphasizing simple estimates and dimensional analysis. Read more.

Solving the Concussion Crisis 11:15 a.m.12:15 p.m.
Ex-athletes are dying young, with extraordinary trauma-induced brain damage. These cases, along with the groundbreaking work of the new Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy at Boston University School of Medicine, have uncovered a sports concussion crisis. Christopher Nowinksi, codirector of BUSMs Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy, will share what researchers are finding inside the brains of former athletes, the scope of this public health threat, and how to fix it.

Cooking Up Culture: Lombardy Classics 11:15 a.m.12:45 p.m.
Cooking Up Culture introduces young people to the great cuisines of the world. Kids cook with local ingredients and authentic recipes. In this session, learn the cooking techniques and cultural significance of the classic dishes of Lombardy, Italy. Food stylist Lisa Falso will introduce your family to polenta pasticciata and amaretti cookies, among other delights.

In teams of four or more, generate your plan of attack and then show winters strongest substance whos boss. Create glittering art with the assistance of professional ice sculptor Eric from Brookline Ice, or sip hot chocolate and watch fellow Winterfest-ers chop blocks of ice into wintry works of genius. Dont forget to vote for the most magnificent!
